In the near future when people become uninterested in boxing and similarsports, a new sport is created – Robot boxing wherein robots battleeach other while being controlled by someone. Charlie Kenton, a formerboxer whois trying to make it in the new sport but not only does not dowell, he is very deeply in the red. When he learns that his ex, motherof his son Max, dies, he goes to figure out what to do with him. Hisexis sister wants to take him in but Charlie has first say in thematter. Charlie asks her husband for money so he can buy a new Robot inexchange for turning Max over to them. He takes Max for the summer. AndMax improves his control of his bot. But when the bot is destroyed, theygo to a scrap yard to get parts. Max finds an old generation bot namedAtom and restores him. Max wants Atom to fight but Charlie tells him hewill not last a round but Atom wins. And it is not long when Atom is gettingmajor bouts. Max gets Charlie to teach Atom how to fight and father andson bond
